Problem

The company went through a branding upgrade a few months before and the company wanted to implement this branding change to their existing static website. The existing website was very bland and did not deliver the brand image that was necessary.

Solution

The approach for implementation of the new brand was done in phases. The initial focus was on the homepage and subsequently other pages on the website. Many of the other companies in the same space use darker colors to convey fraud. The design that was chosen for DataVisor is brighter and with white backgrounds to convey a much fresher and modern look.

Research

Before we built the actual design for the website, we went through an exercise of checking out some competitors and other company websites to understand the flow and interactive elements on websites. These website examples were presented to the entire company and a survey was conducted to see which ones they preferred and why.

Now with a clear understanding of the priorities, we came up with the primary objective of building the updated website.

Visual Elements for Website

I created fun illustrations using Adobe Illustrator and animated them as gifs using Adobe After Effects.

Learnings from the Project

1. The website build had many stakeholders over time. The sales team, the customer success team, the product team, the marketing team, and the Engg team. Many of the teams were brought into the process after the design was built out. In hindsight, including these teams at the start of the process would have been a much smoother process and would have helped make sure that all-important thoughts were included at the get-go.

2. The website was upgraded in phases hence some of the smaller elements like icons, illustrations have different styles which were developed over time. For consistency purposes, it would have been better to build all the illustrations and icons as a package and use them through the website as a single entity.
